Watch: Cubs rookie belts HR in his fourth consecutive game

The 2024 MLB season is still in its infancy, but one would be hard-pressed to find a hotter hitter in the league right now than Chicago Cubs rookie first baseman Michael Busch.

On Sunday, Busch continued to smolder, socking a home run against the Seattle Mariners, his fourth in as many days.

According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com, Busch is only one homer shy of the Cubs record of five consecutive games with a long ball, held by Sammy Sosa (1998), Christopher Morel (2023) and Hall of Famers Hack Wilson (1928) and Ryne Sanberg (1989).

A former first-round pick (31st) of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019, Busch made his Major League debut in 2023, slashing only .167/.247/.292 with two HR and seven RBI in 72 plate appearances. However, a trade in January sent him to the Cubs, where, for the time being, he's thriving.

In addition to his power surge, Busch has been a terror at the plate otherwise. Coming into Sunday, the 26-year-old was batting .311/.385/.644 with four home runs, nine RBI and six walks over 45 at-bats.

Meanwhile, over his last four games, he's 7-of-13 with four long balls, six RBI and four runs scored.
