New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton appears to be in mid-season form.
On Wednesday night, Stanton homered, not once, not twice, but three times against the Pittsburgh Pirates in spring training action. Perhaps most astounding, the former MVP accomplished the feat in only four innings.
Stanton victimized Pirates left-hander Marco Gonzales for all three long balls, greeting him with homer No. 1 in the first inning.

In the second inning, Stanton got to Gonzales again, smacking a 3-2 pitch deep over the left-centerfield fence for a grand slam.

Finally, in the fourth, Stanton took Gonzales deep for the third time, but this was only a solo shot.

Stanton's massive night at the plate continues a solid spring for the veteran. He entered Wednesday's contest with four home runs and nine RBI while slashing .314/.368/.714 over 35 at-bats.
The 34-year-old has seen his numbers decline over the past few seasons and is coming off a 24-homer season, his lowest output over an entire season since 2013.
However, if a resurgence is coming, it could be good news for a Yankees team that will once again lean on stars at the back end of their careers.
