Teenage sensation Simone Pafundi has landed in Switzerland ahead of an impending move to join Swiss Super League side FC Lausanne-Sport.
According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pafundi is set to sign for Lausanne on an initial one-year loan deal with an option to buy for the price of €15m.
The 17-year-old has been on Udinese’s books for close to a decade, joining the academy in 2014, before making his first team debut as a substitute in a 4-0 victory over Salernitana on the final day of the 2021-22 campaign, just two months after his 16th birthday.
Pafundi also made headlines when he was called up to Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad as a 16-year-old in 2022. He would go on to make his debut as a substitute against Albania in November of that year.
However, first team opportunities with Udinese have been few and far between since then. Pafundi has only been given 60 minutes of action across two appearances this season, one in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia.
